LIU Files To Build 31-Story Apartment Building on Dekalb Avenue
The plans call for a residential building with 476 unites to be built at 61 Dekalb Ave., the Real Deal first reported.

BROOKLYN, NY — Long Island University filed plans to build a 31-story apartment building with a yoga studio, rooftop terrace and exercise room on Dekalb Avenue, the Real Deal first reported.
The plans call for a 476-unit high-rise to be built at 61 Dekalb Ave. along with a two-story garage with an athletic field on its roof, according to the Department of Buildings.
The project would join the university's 11-acre campus in the neighborhood which houses more than 800 students, according to LIU's website.

It's unclear if the new building would also be used for dormitories and a spokesman for LIU did not respond to a request for comment.
The university bought the piece of land from the state for $20 million in 1997, city records show.
