Elderly Man Knocked Unconscious In Attempted Robbery In Nassau: Police

HICKSVILLE, NY — An elderly man was robbed at gunpoint in Hicksville, Nassau police said.

The incident took place on Monday, July 10, as the victim walked on Jonathon Avenue at 9:30 p.m.

Henry Romero, 20, of Hicksville, was located at his home on August 1 and taken into custody, police said.

He is accused of pointing a gun as he demanded money from the 71-year-old victim. When the man said he wasn't carrying any cash, Romero struck the victim several times in the head, causing a loss of consciousness, authorities said.

When the victim awoke, he had a bleeding nose and pain to his face, neck, shoulders, back and hip. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Romero, who is charged with second-degree assault and first-degree attempted robbery, was scheduled for arraignment on Wednesday.
