Hicksville Public Schools Gets $20K Grant for Educational Technology
The funds will be used to purchase new electronic SMART boards.

The Hicksville School District received $20,000 in state funding that will be used to purchase new electronic SMART boards and instructional technology.
SMART boards are touch-sensitive, computerized blackboards that allow teachers to use the Internet, videos and manipulate text in classroom lessons. Students can use the SMART boards by drawing diagrams, writing text and more in front of the class.
“SMART Boards are an enormously beneficial resource,” said Senator Jack Martins, who secured the funding. “Students are far more likely to understand and retain information when they are engaged and actively participating in learning. This technology also helps teachers make lessons more interactive, fun and, most importantly, effective.”

Martins said these additional technological tools will benefit both students and teachers.
“We thank Senator Martins for securing this funding and for his support of our educational enterprise and ongoing efforts on behalf of the children we serve,” Hicksville School District Superintendent Dr. Carl Bonuso said.
