Homeless Man Broke Into Hicksville Business Using Screwdriver: Police
The man stole items from the store Friday morning, police say.

A homeless man faces burglary charges after police said he broke into a Hicksville business using a screwdriver Friday morning.
According to authorities, police responded to a call for a burglary at Big Lot Store, located at 275 South Broadway, when they found Mauricio Galo, 57, exiting the rear of the building at 6:15 a.m.
Galo was found to be in possession of a screwdriver that he used to open the store’s rear door, police say.

Police placed Galo under arrest and subsequently discovered a box of screws and a window crank in his backpack that were removed from the store, police say.
Galo was charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief and possession of burglar tools.

He was arraigned Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.
