LI Firefighters Get Protective Equipment Thanks To Local Company

HICKSVILLE, NY — Hicksville firefighters were among several Long Island fire departments to get personal protective equipment courtesy of a Bellport-based company. The Hicksville Fire Department held the event Friday courtesy of M&C Venture Group CEO Osbert Orduna, a former marine.

Hicksville has 944 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus as of Saturday, according to Nassau County's COVID-19 case tracker.

Volunteer firefighters from the Hicksville, Jericho, South Farmingdale, Farmingdale, Westbury, Carle Place, North Massapequa, Seaford, Bethpage and Wantagh also received equipment.

Firefighters thanked the venture group for donating protective gear, which helps protect first responders. The companies have donated over $100,000 to Nassau and Suffolk first responders, police, sheriffs departments and emergency medical services. Legislators Laura Schaefer, Rose Marie Walker and Steve Rhoads attended the event.
