• Person In Custody After Hicksville Bomb Threat: PD (patch.com) — Hicksville parents woke up to a scare Friday as a bomb threat statement at the Hicksville Public Library led to an evacuation and lockouts at Hicksville Middle School, Hicksville High School, and Lee Avenue Elementary. Police say one person is in custody and the Arson/Bomb Squad found no actual threat, while district officials report all students and staff are safe as the investigation continues.
   

• Billy Joel is not dead, publicist confirms following Google death hoax (newsday.com) — Hicksville's own Billy Joel is very much alive, despite a Google search glitch that briefly listed him as having died on Sept. 17, 2026. His publicist confirmed he's fine, and Joel himself recently reassured fans on his SiriusXM channel that, following brain surgery, he's recovering and "not going anywhere."
