Man Carjacks 85-Year-Old Woman At Knifepoint In Walmart Parking Lot

BREAKING: He forced the woman into the passenger seat, drove to a bank and withdrew money from her account, Nassau Police say.

WESTBURY, NY – An 85-year-old woman is recovering from a carjacking that left her with injuries to her upper body Sunday afternoon, Nassau Police said.

According to police, the woman was entering her car in the parking lot of the Walmart on Old Country Road in Westbury around 1:30 p.m. when a man armed with a large knife approached her and demanded money.

The man then forced the woman into the passenger seat, took her keys and drove to a Chase bank in Elmont, where he used the woman's ATM card and pin number to withdraw an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

The man then drove to Dutch Broadway in the vicinity of Audrey Avenue, where he exited the vehicle and fled on foot westbound on Dutch Broadway toward Audrey Avenue. The woman received non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The robber is described as black, 6-foot to 6-foot-1, in his 20s, with a thin build and wearing a dark baseball cap.
