Man Killed After Crashing Into Tree in Westbury

A 19-year-old man was killed after police say his vehicle struck a tree Sunday morning in Westbury.

According to authorities, Quentin Abram, of Westbury, was speeding in a 2002 Toyota southbound on Merrick Avenue when he crossed into the northbound lane and crashed into a tree at 8:35 a.m.

Abram, who was the only person in the car, suffered from severe internal bleeding and was transported to a local hospital in a Nassau County Police Ambulance. He was pronounced dead at 9:16 a.m. by a hospital physician.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety and brake inspection. Police suspect no criminality at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
