Man Masturbated In Long Island Babies "R" Us Parking Lot: Police

He was staring at a woman eating lunch in her car, say police, who are searching for other possible victims.

A 39-year-old man pulled his car up next to a woman eating lunch in her car in a Long Island Babies "R" Us parking lot last month, exposed himself and began masturbating, Nassau Police said.

Fredys Santamaria, of Westbury, was arrested on Saturday after a month-long investigation, police said.

According to police, a 35-year-old woman reported that a man driving a black Acura pulled up two parking spots away from her in the parking of the Babies "R" Us, located at 1350 Corporate Dr. in Westbury, on the afternoon of Feb. 21.

She then noticed the driver of the Acura, later identified as Santamaria, sitting up exposing his genitals and masturbating while staring directly at her, police said.

The woman put her car in reverse, took a cellphone photo of the Acura and then left the parking lot before dialing 911, police said.

An investigation by detectives led them to Santamaria, of Anna Avenue, where he was arrested at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, police said.

Santamaria, who was carrying his son, initially refused to comply with police and he resisted arrest, police said. He eventually placed into custody without any harm to the child, police said.

Santamaria is charged with endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest and public lewdness. He will be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead Sunday.

Detectives believe that Santamaria may be involved in other similar public lewdness incidents. Any other potential victims are asked to call the Third Squad at 516-573-6353.
