Westbury Man Gets 15 Years for Stabbing Man in Head, Leaving Him for Dead
The 20-year-old assaulted and robbed his former roommate in 2015.

A 20-year-old Westbury man was sentenced Tuesday to 15 years in prison for stabbing his former roommate in the head, robbing him and leaving him for dead in 2015, Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas announced.
Wilson Garcia will also serve three years post release supervision after he completes his prison sentence. He was convicted on Oct. 3 of two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of second-degree assault, third-degree robbery and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
On Nov. 10 2016, Garcia, who is also known as Peligro, was in a Prospect Avenue home in New Cassel with his 35-year-old former roommate when Garcia demanded money for crack cocaine, the DA said.

The man, who also used to work with Garcia as a day laborer, had a $100 bill and told Garcia he would give him the money he had left over after spending the cash on himself, the DA said. Garcia then allegedly pulled out a large knife, stabbed the man in his right temple, took the $100 bill out of the man’s pocket, threw him down a basement staircase and left him there for dead.
The man managed to crawl out of the stairwell and across the street where a good Samaritan called 911, the DA said. He was taken to Nassau University Medical Center where he received stitches and staples in his head and told police who assaulted him. The man has since recovered from his injuries, which included a severed artery.

Garcia was arrested by the Nassau County Police Department on Nov. 12, 2015.
“[Garcia] robbed and brutally stabbed his former roommate in the head and left him for dead," Singas said in a press release. “Today’s sentence ensures that [Garcia] will be off the streets and behind bars for many years.”
