  1. Andrew Bardak, a football player at St. Anthony's High School, has been nominated for USA Football's Heart of a Giant Award. Nominees are chosen by their coaches for displaying commitment, teamwork, will, character and dedication. The award is presented by Hospital for Special Surgery and the New York Giants and looks at all players in the tri-state area. Bardak is a Senior and the middle linebacker. His goal is to attend the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, following in the footsteps of his older sister and brother who currently attend the U.S. Airforce Academy, according to Bardak's coach, Joseph Minucci.   2. 1653 Pizza Company has been a hit in Huntington Village since opening it's doors back in June. The restaurant offers a wide selection of pizzas, including margarita, mortadella, and spinach. and has tremendous review on Yelp. Islanders defenseman Scott Mayfield is a regular at the joint, and it has now become a pizza staple in a highly competitive Huntington market.(Daily Voice)
  3. The median home price on Long Island has soared to $535,000. This makes it very hard to afford a home on Long Island, especially for young adults looking at their first mortgage. There are some programs on the federal and local level to help. There is the Federal Housing Administration which promises rates as low as 3.5%. As for Suffolk, its government website says: “Suffolk County operates several programs to support and encourage the creation of affordable and workforce housing through the Department of Economic Development and Planning and the Suffolk County housing opportunities programs.”(Huntington Now)

  5. Go Inside Smokey Joe's Cafe at the John W Engeman Theater Northport. Smokey Joe’s Cafe officially opened at the John W. Engeman Theater, which runs through Sunday, October 31, 2021.
