Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is seeking the public's help in finding the two men who police said burglarized a Huntington Station home in September. The phone number you can call with information is 1-800-220-TIPS. On September 8th, two men entered a home on Cooper Avenue around 12:25 p.m. and stole cash, police said. - Mr. William Hender Serving as Maplewood Intermediate School's New Principal. Mr. Hender always knew that working with children was what he wanted to do. Growing up, Mr. Hender’s mother had a daycare center that was run out of their home, and with the added experience tutoring his brother when they were younger, it peaked his initial interest in education. “Those two pieces plus my love of sports and coaching led to going into education asa logical choice, and it’s something that I’m glad I did." He has a challenge ahead with COVID-19 safety protocols still in place, but is ready to tackle it head on. (The Huntingtonian)
- Cold Spring Harbor Summer Science Research Program Promotes STEM Investigation. This year’s program was offered under the direction of the district’s K-12 Director of STEM Kim Libertini and teachers Martin Colucci and Melissa McLees from the CSH’s department of mathematics, Jack Healy from the CSH’s career and technical education department and Fred Feraco a science research teacher from Walt Whitman High School. Science is advancing at a rapid pace, and it is important to have a strong future of children going into the field.
“This program offers students the opportunity to build upon their skills and enables them to connect their passion in other subject areas to their academic pursuits in science research,” said Libertini". (The Huntingtonian)
