2 Passengers Injured In DWI-Related Accident: Suffolk Police
A man drove drunk with his nephew and two other passengers, and the two passengers were injured in a crash: Suffolk Police.
HUNTINGTON, NY—A man was arrested after he allegedly drove drunk and crashed into a car while driving three passengers, including his teenage nephew, on Friday, Suffolk police announced.
Gene Hamid was driving a 1994 Dodge Dakota northbound on Clinton Avenue when he crashed into a 2019 Jeep Cherokee travelling eastbound on Gerard Street around 3:50 p.m., police said. Two of the four occupants of the Jeep sustained minor injuries and were transported to Huntington Hospital for treatment.
Hamid and his 13-year-old nephew were not injured. Hamid was arrested at the scene around 4:45 p.m. The nephew was released to the custody of a family member. The Dodge Dakota was impounded.

Hamid, 60, of Huntington Station, was charged with DWI, aggravated DWI with a child passenger 15 years old or younger (Leandra's Law) and endangering the welfare of a child.
