HUNTINGTON, NY—Three beaches in the Town of Huntington were closed to bathing on Wednesday because a dangerously high level of bacteria was found at each.
The Centerport Yacht Club Beach, Valley Grove Beach and Huntington Beach Community Association Beach are affected.
According to Suffolk County Commissioner of Health Dr. James Tomarken, bathing in bacteria-contaminated water can result in gastrointestinal illness, as well as infections of the eyes, ears, nose and throat.
