39 Summonses Issued To Fuel Trucks At Suffolk Checkpoint

Officials inspected 14 fuel trucks, police say. Four vehicles were placed out of service.

HUNTINGTON STATION, NY — Fourteen fuel trucks were given 39 summonses at a checkpoint in Huntington Station on Wednesday by Suffolk police and other county and state officials, authorities said.

Four vehicles were placed out of service.

Of the 14 commercial vehicles inspected, seven were home heating oil tanker trucks checked for meter compliance and overall safety at the Long Island Railroad parking lot, police said. The 39 summonses included 11 environmental conservation violations; seven weight violations; and one for an unsealed meter.

The police department's Motor Carrier Safety Section was joined by the New York State Department of Transportation, Suffolk County Department of Weights and Measures and New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Police.
