About:

Arts on Terry Street is a collaborative effort of the Patchogue
Arts Council, Inc. and Artspace Patchogue Lofts. It was conceived two

years ago in a meeting with Patchogue Village Mayor Paul Pontieri;
Village Trustee Lori Devlin, who is also president of the Patchogue Arts

Council; and Artspace Resident Dave Rogers to create an event that

would highlight the best art that Patchogue has to offer and to bring

other organizations from all of Long Island to assemble an art fair with

a twist – a big art fair feel on a smaller scale that would take place on

and around Terry Street, the heart of the arts in Patchogue, and home

to Artspace Patchogue, the Patchogue Arts Council, Inc., and the Plaza

Cinema and Media Arts Center as well as a beautifully landscaped park.

After a couple of meetings to work out the details of how to organize

the event, the Patchogue Arts Council and artists in Artspace Patchogue

came together to create the first ever street fair of this kind in the

Village of Patchogue. Though the fair will have the usual tents set up

like many art fairs around Long Island, there will be a few additions here

in Patchogue, including indoor exhibits at both the Patchogue Arts Council

and Artspace Patchogue. The exhibit at the arts council’s gallery will be its

yearly member exhibit, PatchWorks, and Artspace will present two exhibits

in its lobby gallery. One will be a small sculpture exhibit curated by Lisa Di

Stefano, a resident of Artspace; and the other will be the first ever national

Artspace exhibit run by and featuring works by artists from Artspace buildings

across the country. The fair will also include sculptures in the park, street

artists, chalk artists, demonstration artists in painting, ceramics, glass, and

live drawing as well as performance artists in music, body painting, poetry

reading, and more.
