“We think Huntington is the food capital of Long Island. It has everything to offer, with the level of cuisine, culture, arts, theater. It’s got the whole package. People definitely travel to come here,” he said.

The event means “we get a great response. We’re already booking up now,” he said last week. “We get excited to put our best food forward, expose new customers to our great food and warm hospitality and we develop more regular customers.”

“What we do at Honu is offer our whole menu as part of restaurant week,” with some specials, such as Chilean sea bass and filet mignon, priced slightly higher.

“What this does is enable us to expose what we normally do to people who haven’t been to the restaurant rather than limit their choices.”

Why choose Honu? “Somebody not familiar with our restaurant would be impressed with our chic Manhattan vibe, our  excellent food and our warm hospitality and service,” Zecher said.

Some of the appetizers on the menu are seared sea scallops with chipotle barbecue and cream corn;

Pumkpin tortellini with goat cheese and pumpkin seeds and Peking duck with cucumber and hoisin sauce. Entrees include a sesame crust ahi tuna, meat dishes, including braised short ribs and herb bacon spaetzle  and turnips.

Honu seats about 190 people at a time and will maintain its regular hours.
