Driver Hit Pedestrian In Huntington Station, Drove Away: Police

A woman was crossing a road when she was hit by a car, police say. The driver is wanted in connection with the hit-and-run, police say.

HUNTINGTON STATION, NY — A car hit and seriously hurt a pedestrian in Huntington Station last week, then drove off, Suffolk police said. Now, authorities are asking for the public's help finding the driver.

A woman was crossing New York Avenue, just south of Huntington Public Library (Station Branch), when a car struck her at 7:10 p.m. Thursday, police said. The driver fled southbound on New York Avenue, police said.

The woman, 39, was airlifted with serious injuries to a nearby hospital. Her identity was withheld by police pending notification of next of kin.

The car that was driven away was described as an older model gray four-door sedan, possibly a Nissan Sentra or Altima, police said.
