Drunk Huntington Man Struck, Critically Injured Pedestrian: Cops

The 23-year-old charged with a DWI after the crash on Saturday night, police say.

BAY SHORE, NY - A Huntington man was charged with a DWI after he struck and critically injured a pedestrian in Bay Shore on Saturday night, according to Suffolk Police.

Edwin Rolando Santos-Romero, 23, was driving a 2000 Toyota Camry northbound on Fifth Avenue when his car struck a pedestrian who was attempting to cross the street from east to west near Bailey Avenue at 9:45 p.m., police said.

The pedestrian, 46-year-old Jose Reyes, of Bay Shore, was transported by Brentwood Legion Ambulance to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he was listed in critical condition.

Santos-Romero will be held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned on Sunday.
