Electrical Fire Disrupts Night at New York Sports Club
A second floor light fixture short circuited and caused a small electrical fire at the New York Sports Club on New Street.
A light fixture on the second floor of the New York Sports Club short circuited and caused a small electrical fire at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night, Huntington Fire Department Chief Brian Riggs said.
The fire was self contained and no one was injured, according to Riggs.
As the fire was extinguished, New Street was blocked off for close to a half hour, with three fire trucks and a host of emergency vehicles flocking to the scene. The gym was closed for 20 minutes as firefighters removed the light fixture and cleared the building.
Representatives from the gym declined to comment on the incident.
