Here are the top stories in Huntington today:

  1. Man steals cash from Huntington dry cleaning business: police. A man entered Carillon Dry Cleaners, at 327 Main St., around 10:25 p.m. Sept. 27 and stole $500 cash from the register, police said. The man appeared to be wearing a Yankees baseball hat, hooded sweatshirt and white Nike sneakers, police said. Please call crime stoppers if you have any information at 1-800-220-TIPS. (Huntington Patch)
  2. Rabbi asks Northport board's help to block more antisemitic acts. A rabbi whose Hebrew school students were harassed by a man during a Rosh Hashanah ceremony in Northport has asked for police presence next year. Rabbi Ian J. Silverman of the East Northport Jewish Center said peers were participating in a ceremony Sept. 14 that involved the casting of bread into water when a man stepped out of his car and began “scolding us about how could we have possibly rejected the Savior,” Silverman said. “He was condemning us for not accepting the ‘Christian Messiah who died for our sins.’ I tried to talk to him, to tell him that he was traumatizing kids but he was talking past me. It was an awful scene. In terms of stopping his behavior, he stopped when he felt like stopping." It's important to respect everyone's view to keep our community strong knit and to not need police involved. (Huntington Now)
  3. The 2021 Long Island Fall Festival happens tomorrow night in Huntington. Tomorrow starts the Long Island Fall Festival at Heckscher Park, at 5 p.m. The festival runs until Monday and is one of the best in New York State, and arguably the Northeast. It was cancelled last year due to COVID-19 and features rides, games, food, live entertainment, and much more. Heavy traffic to be expected in the area. (Greater Long Island)
