Firefighters Respond To Vehicle In Huntington Harbor

Firefighters responded to assist with an SUV that ended up in Huntington Harbor on Saturday morning, making it the second vehicle to end up in Long Island waters in a week.

According to fire officials, the Huntington Fire Department responded to the harbor, on West Shore Road near Gold Star Beach, and searched the water and the SUV for any possible victims at 6:40 a.m.

The driver was found at his nearby home by Suffolk Police. He was not reported injured.

Huntington firefighters responded to the scene with a heavy rescue truck and a zodiac boat. Units were under the command of Chief Jesse Cukro and Assistant Chiefs Brian Keane and Scott Dodge.

A man was rescued from a submerged vehicle at Port Jefferson Marina on Thursday evening. The man suffered serious injuries.
