Former Huntington Town Employee Stole Tools: Suffolk DA
The man admitted to stealing nearly $4,000 worth of Town of Huntington tools and selling them for profit, DA Raymond Tierney says.

TOWN OF HUNTINGTON, NY — A former part-time security guard in the Town of Huntington pleaded guilty on Tuesday to stealing tools from the town and selling them for profit, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced.
Robert Chura, 29, of Selden, broke into a locked tool-storage room and stole three hedge trimmers, two chainsaws and two leaf blowers while employed by the town, according to court documents and Chura's guilty plea.
The stolen items were valued at approximately $3,700, officials said. Chura confessed that he sold several of these items, Tierney said. Suffolk detectives identified Chura when he listed some of the stolen items for sale online, authorities said.

“Stealing public property is a serious crime," Tierney said via news release. "Especially when, as in this case, the defendant exploited his position as a public employee to benefit himself. Fortunately, the only result he garnered from his scheme is a grand larceny conviction on his record.”
Chura is due back in court for sentencing on Sept. 28 and is being represented by Joseph Carbone,
Esq.
