  1. Nine Walt Whitman students selected For American Legion State Program. The students displayed leadership, character, scholarship, loyalty and service in their schools and community, according to the district. They will represent the South Huntington School District at the Boys’ and Girls’ State Conferences this summer and you can see which students were selected in the article. (Huntington Patch)
  2. Four garbage trucks damaged in fire at Syosset yard Tuesday afternoon. The fire started in one truck's engine and spread to the others and firefighters needed 1,000 feet of hose to battle the blaze. "The staff here did their job, shut off the natural gas right away, the valves all worked on the trucks exactly as their supposed to, so there was really no hazard from it," said First Assistant Chief Edward Judge, with the Syosset Fire Department.
