Goods Dropped After Stop & Shop Employee Confronts Thieves: SCPD

The two men who stole $500 worth of groceries from the supermarket dropped their haul and drove off after being confronted, police say.

HUNTINGTON, NY — Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is seeking the public's help in finding the two men who police say tried to steal merchandise from a Huntington supermarket.

The duo stole more than $500 worth of groceries from Stop & Shop, at 1100 Jericho Turnpike, around 3 p.m. April 19, police said. However, they dropped the stolen goods when they were confronted by an employee in the parking lot before driving off in a 2001 Mitsubishi Montero, police said. Both men are wanted for petty larceny.

Police ask anyone with information to reach Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and leave an anonymous tip via phone call at 1-800-220-TIPS, using a mobile app which can be downloaded through the App Store or Google Play by searching P3 Tips, or online at www.P3Tips.com. A cash reward of up to $5,000 is offered for information that leads to an arrest.
