How Town Of Huntington Students Can Enter Writing Contest
Students grades 4 through 12 were invited to join the 23rd annual "Huntington Youth Writes" contest.
TOWN OF HUNTINGTON, NY — Town of Huntington students in grades 4 through 12 are invited to enter the 23rd annual “Huntington Youth Writes” contest, Supervisor Edmund J. Smyth announced. The contest is sponsored by the Huntington Youth Bureau Project Excel.
"We have some incredibly creative students across the Town of Huntington," Smyth stated. "This is a unique opportunity for these talented young writers to get published for the first time."
Students who attend school and/or live in the Town of Huntington may enter the contest. Since it began in 1999, over 20,000 entries have been received in the program.

The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. March 4. The entry form is online.
Winners will be awarded gift cards and have their work published collectively by the Town of Huntington. The writing categories are poetry, short fiction, and essays, with cash prizes for first, second, and third in each category in grades four and five, six through eight, and nine through twelve.

Parents and students with questions may contact Valerie E. Drakos at the Huntington Youth Bureau at 631-271-5499. Flyers with the link will also be available at schools, libraries, and other sites in the Town of Huntington.
