Huntington Adoptable Pets Of The Week: Marcy And Tommi
The 1-year-old sisters were rescued from a hoarding situation.

HUNTINGTON, NY — Marcy and Tommi, 1-year-old sisters, are the Grateful Paw Cat Shelter's Huntington Pets of the Week.
Marcy and Tommi were rescued from a "very difficult" hoarding situation, said Debbi Larkin, president of the shelter.
"They were in an enclosed space that had 15+ cats in very tight quarters," Larkin said. "The person who was housing them had good intentions, but I think they were just overwhelmed with the situation and needed help. Another rescue reached out to us to lend a hand and we did."

Grateful Paw rescued Marcy and Tommi on April 24 and took the two to its veterinarian to get checked out.
"Although they were on the thin side, probably not enough food for all, they were in good
health," Larkin said. "When they first came into the shelter they were totally confused as to what was happening because they were relocated three times in less than a week."

Marcy and Tommi have another sibling who is on the timid side, according to Larkin.
"Both of these girls have really started to blossom after being in our kitten room with theonly male in town … Carter!" she said. "He welcomed them with open paws and has started to show them that they are safe and protected in the shelter environment."
Marcy and Tommi are both purring machines and run to the door to greet anyone who ventures in.
Marcy loves to sit on top of the condo by the window to patrol for birds and squirrels. Tommi loves to sit in the cubby with her other older sibling or, better yet, she loves to snuggle with Carter, Larkin said. They both have voracious appetites and wait patiently for the treat jar to come out.
Marcy is a tabby with torti colors, and Tommi is a dark tabby with white. They both have eyes that sparkle when you stare into them.
They have been totally vetted, spayed, litter box trained and tested negative for FELV & FIV.
"They both love people and other cats (not sure about dogs) and would make a perfect companion for anyone who might be interested," Larkin said. "They love to empty the toy box in the room, so be careful when you stop by!"
If you are interested in meeting either or both of Marcy and Tommi, you may call the shelter at 631-757-4517, emailcats@laphuntington.org, visit the Facebook page or visit at the Grateful Paw Cat Shelter.
"Marcy & Tommi deserve a forever home where they can settle down and have a happy life," Larkin said. "Don’t you want to be a part of that?"
The rescue is at 3 Verleye Ave., East Northport, and visiting hours are Tuesday through Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
Larkin encouraged people to stop by the shelter from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday for its Mother's Day/Kitten Shower event.
