See who made the cut from the Huntington, Huntington Station, Cold Spring Harbor and Harborfields school districts.
HUNTINGTON, NY — The 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program semifinalists were announced on Wednesday. Among them are eight students from the Huntington area, which includes Huntington, South Huntington, Cold Spring Harbor and Harborfields school districts, as well as St. Anthony's.
Approximately 16,000 semifinalists were named in the 67th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for roughly 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $30 million that will be offered next spring.
To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the finalist level. Around 95 percent of the semifinalists are expected to attain finalist standing, and approximately half of the finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title.
