Here are the top stories in Huntington today:

  1. Huntington to dole out 10,000+ Coronavirus test kits. The Town of Huntington will be giving out 10,000 COVID-19 tests, according to Town Supervisor Ed Smyth. The tests will be given out on Feb. 7, the town announced. The distribution is funded by the 2020 CARES Act Community Development Block Grant Coronavirus program. Pre-registration is required. Recipients must be Town of Huntington residents and each household is eligible to receive up to four test kits. (Huntington Patch)
  2. Huntington calendar: See What's Happening in the area this weekend. After last weekend's blizzard, make up for lost time this weekend and hit the town with these Huntington area events.   3. Priciest home sales in Greenlawn. As the real estate market continues to stay hot with few high prices and low inventory, check out the priciest home sales in Greenlawn for the month of January. The priciest Greenlawn home sold in January was a 4-bedroom, 2.5-bath split-level on .50 acres at 10 Monett Place that sold for $850,000. It was listed by Kathleen Casillo of Coldwell Banker American Homes and sold by Elizabeth Alessio of Coach Realtors. (Long Island Business News)

  • Huntington Union Free School District: Huntington High School Virtual Enterprise business program teams are once again excelling in competition. The Paladin and Artemis company teams advanced to the semi-final round of the VE International business plan contest. The competition drew 100 firms with 40 moving on to the semi-final round. The teams will present again on February 16. Only ten company teams will move on to the nationals. (Facebook)
  • Huntington Union Free School District: The Huntington wrestling team will vie in the Suffolk League III championships on Saturday at Half Hollow Hills East High School. The first whistles will sound at 9:30 a.m. The Blue Devils are led by seniors Robbie Smith, Kaleef Riley and Lucas Cirlincione. Smith is ranked No. 1 in Suffolk at 215 lbs. Riley is ranked No. 5 at 285 lbs. and Cirlincione is ranked No. 5 at 110 lbs. (Facebook)
  • Town of Huntington: Huntington Station – Huntington Town Supervisor Edmund J. Smyth and the Huntington Town Board, in their role as the Community Development Agency (CDA), and CDA Director Leah M. Jefferson will launch the distribution of over 10,000 COVID-19 at-home test kits at Manor Field Park on Monday, February 7 at 11:00 AM. Pre-registration is required. (Facebook)
  • Huntington Union Free School District: The Huntington Booster Club’s online store has returned for Blue Devil fans. An assortment of new items are available for purchase along with some of the most perennially popular pieces of apparel. The store will remain open through February 11 so order now. (Facebook)
  • Huntington Public Library: Attention teens! Come listen to Ayesha Chandnani, Girl Scout, as she presents interviews from several seniors and shares their life experiences, including serving in the Vietnam War, dealing with bullying, and financial worries.
