Here are the top 3 stories in Huntington today:

  1. Young Harborfields scientists conduct cutting-edge research at Cold Spring Harbor. High schoolers Anna Duff, Ava Green, Abby McGullam, Jack Steel, Liam Storm and Lindsay Sung recently visited their greenhouses in Woodbury, conducting cutting-edge research on gene modification of tomato plants. They’re looking at ways to increase the tomato count, quicken the growth time and decrease the nutrient needs of the plants in order to maximize food production. And it’s all about addressing world hunger. We look forward to the cutting-edge research these CSH students come up with!(Greater Long Island)
  2. Owl saved by 2 South Huntington School District employees: watch. We all need a feel good story with the chaos and stress of the holidays. Check out the video of these 2 Walt Whitman groundskeepers rescuing an owl from a baseball net at the school. "They didn't have to go and approach that bird … the video shows how compassionate my guys are and how much they care," stated Kevin O'Shaughnessy, head of grounds for South Huntington.
