Here are the top 3 stories in Huntington today:

  1. Former Huntington maritime director Dom Spada reaches a plea deal. He reached a deal on charges that he falsified paperwork related to a Civil Service Exam. “Pursuant to a plea offer conveyed under the previous administration, Spada did plead guilty. However, the plea and the sentence are sealed, so by statute we are precluded from disclosing the details of that agreement,” Tania Lopez, a spokeswoman for District Attorney Ray Tierney, said Thursday. 2. A home in Cold Spring Harbor was broken into Wednesday. Someone broke the back door of the home on Woodchuck Hollow Lane around 9 a.m. and stole a bag of quarters with about $50 inside. (Huntington Patch)
  3. Sensory Garden revived at Vanderbilt Museum. Kimm Schmidt and Lauren Ferris of Pal-O-Mine Equestrian in Islandia worked with six adults with special needs to revive the garden. They revive the garden each year after the idea and execution originated in 2018. “We plant things that awaken the senses,” Schmidt said. The garden has more than two dozen herbs, including sage, mint, rosemary, basil, anise hyssop, chamomile, yarrow, citronella, rainbow Swiss chard, chives, lemon balm, strawberries, and five-leaf akebia, a vine with chocolate-scented flowers.
