  1. Harry Chapin Food Bank donates $9,000 in grants from NYS. The food bank has donated $9,000 in grants from New York State as part of the Hunger Prevention and Nutrition Assistance Program. The money will go towards Chapin's various partner shelters across Long Island. "Our Long Island Cares accounts allow our shelters to order food to help create well-balanced, nutritious meals for the families in our care," said Angela Klyvert, program director of Haven House/Bridges. "HHB is grateful to receive the grant, because it allows us to continue to provide optimal services to the population we serve." (Huntington Patch)
  2. Suffolk County COVID-19 cases drop below 200. As we continue to move past the Omicron surge, positive case numbers keep dropping. In the latest press Suffolk County press release from Feb 23, only 176 Suffolk County residents tested positive for the virus. That brings the 7-day average to just 2%. 3. Cream Bakery is now open, check out photos from the bakery and cafe. As one bakery closed its doors (Crave), another opened with Cream Bakery now residing at 260 Main St. in Huntington. Owner Georgio Hambartsoumian explains, “I have two types of bakers: the one does all the Americanized cakes, the mousse, and cheesecakes, and all the European stuff is my mom,” Hambartsoumian said. “All my pastries are light, they aren’t overly sweet, just the perfect taste that’s left in your mouth.” Take a look at some pictures of desserts for sale and let us know what you think!
