Here are the top stories today in Huntington:
- Suffolk County to distribute thousands of at-home COVID-19 tests. Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone and Smithtown Supervisor Ed Wehrheim announced Friday they will be giving the tests to the most vulnerable and senior residents. "This virus is not going to go away," Bellone said. "It is going to be here with us. It is something that we are going to live with." The county has partnered with various municipalities to give out the tests to assisted living homes, food pantries, community centers, and more. (Patch)
- St. Hugh's Church partnering with three restaurants to donate 4,000 meals. The church will be joining the Harry Chapin Food Bank to distribute 4,000 meals on March 6. Racha Thai Cuisine, Prime, and Blind Bat Brewery Bistro will be teaming up to help the church. The funding has been provided by the State Resiliency Program, which gave Long Island Cares a $794,000 grant last year to purchase meals from qualified restaurants. (Huntington Now)
- Marc Courtade officially retired on Friday after serving seven years as the executive director of Huntington Arts Council. He won't be leaving completely though, as he will be helping out the unnamed successor. “I’m just retiring from full time employment at Huntington Arts, not retiring from life and I’m definitely not retiring from the arts. I’ll be around,” he said. (Huntington Now)

From my notebook:
- Huntington Union Free School District: There are numerous amounts of intramural sports starting this spring. Boys and girls can choose from golf, soccer, lacrosse, and flag football. Head to the school's website for more information. (Facebook)
- Nextdoor Neighbor, Huntington: "Hi neighbors! Recently someone who was staying at my house, while I was away, walked on my floors with wet boots and didn’t dry up the spots and now I have some stains on my wood floors. Can anybody recommend someone who can either try to sand these stains out or treat them in some way so that they look a bit more blended than they do now?" (Nextdoor)
- Nextdoor Neighbor, West Shore: "Heading to the USB arena soon. Any recommendations regarding the best way to get to the arena would be appreciated. Thank you!" (Nextdoor)
- Nextdoor Neighbor, Robin Park: "Sadly, I found a dead cat on Broadway/Greenlawn, just north of Park Avenue. The poor thing had been hit by a car and was frozen by the time I saw him/her. This was the same location where I had found another dead cat a few months ago." (Nextdoor)
- Nextdoor Neighbor, Flower Hill Road: "Any suggestions as to getting rid of off gassing smell in wood vanity? Very strong smell; it’s been about 4 months since installation." (Nextdoor)
