  1. Huntington Harbor was protected from contaminants by the Harbormaster's office during fire. In the fire that engulfed two auto shops on Friday, Senior Harbormaster Fred Uvena anticipated that chemicals, petroleum and other contaminants in the runoff from the firefight would travel to the harbor. He called for a multi-team response that involved the U.S Coast Guard and NYS Department of Environmental Conservation. They were able to protect the harbor from contaminants. (Huntington Patch)
  2. Ruth's Chris Steak House to open in Melville on Monday. The restaurant is located at 881 Walt Whitman Road and will be a state-of-the-art building. "We've had the pleasure to serve the Long Island community for many years, and are fortunate to make available our one-of-a-kind experience to even more guests in the area," said William Nicholson, general manager for Ruth's Chris in Melville.
