Here are the top 3 stories in Huntington today:

  1. Huntington inauguration postponed by Covid-19 concerns. The January 2, 2022 Town of Huntington Inaugural Ceremony has been temporarily postponed while the January 4, 2022 Town Board meeting will go on as scheduled with COVID-19 precautions in place. “The Inauguration is ceremonial in nature while Town Board meetings are an essential function of government,” said Supervisor-elect Ed Smyth. “We are taking all necessary precautions to keep government running efficiently and safely and we will make a determination regarding the Inaugural ceremony when all members of the community will be comfortable participating.” (http://www.huntingtonNow.com)
  2. Suffolk Arrest Report: Dec. 27. Check out the recent arrests in the area from the second precinct. It was a busy holiday season as citizens were arrested for a vast number of crimes including multiple DUI and DWIs. If you have any information on a crime, call Suffolk County Crimestoppers at 1-800-221-TIPS. (Huntington Patch)
  3. State lists sites for Covid-19 testing. As Omicron spreads throughout the world, Suffolk County has gotten hit especially hard with a positive rate at roughly 15%. A complaint many had was they could not get tested due to the long wait times or lack of appointments. Urgent cares were turning other patients away with non-COVID-19 issues which was also a major concern. The state has now opened new testing centers, and a digital search tool for residents who want to get tested. The closest to us is in Hauppauge at IBEW Local 25 headquarters, which opens Wednesday.
