Here are the top 3 stories in Huntington today:

  1. Vanderbilt Museum in Centerport opens new Solar System Hiking Trail. As the country and Town of Huntington continue to go green, Vanderbilt Museum has opened a new solar system hiking trail. The course includes a scale model of the Solar System, which complements STEM and astronomy-education programs offered by the Charles and Helen Reichert Planetarium. Go check out the one-mile trail before snow hits the ground!(tbrnewsmedia.com)
  2. How close are Huntington area hospitals to capacity? Winter is here, and the Omicron variant and regular viruses are circulating at historic pace. State health officials in New York reported to the federal government Dec. 22 that approximately 80 percent of inpatient beds and 76 percent of intensive care unit beds in hospitals across the state were occupied. Around 14 percent of inpatient beds and 18 percent of ICU beds statewide were filled by COVID-19 patients, they reported. Check the link for capacity statistics on all local hospitals. (Huntington Patch)
  3. Huntington Hospital to shut down nearly all visitations. As the trend of hospital news and capacity continues, Huntington Hospital will be shutting down nearly all visitations. A partner will be allowed for patients in labor and delivery, and a visitor can attend to someone in end-of-life care. No other visitors will be allowed at the hospital, and the testing site at 30 View Acre Dr. will reopen. (http://www.huntingtonNow.com)
