Here are the top 3 stories in Huntington today:

  1. Town of Oyster Bay offering free Opioid training and Narcan kits. The training session will be on May 17 for all town residents. "Our Town has worked diligently to help address the ongoing opioid crisis on Long Island, making it one of our top priorities," said Town Councilwoman Laura Maier. "This seminar provides a great opportunity to learn how to safely and effectively reverse the fatal effects of an opioid overdose by administering a life-saving antidote, a skill we all hope we never have to use." (Patch)
  2. Dietitian gives out her favorite gluten-free recipes for Celiac Disease Awareness Month. Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder that is triggered by consuming gluten. "It is important to share gluten-free recipes like these for those who have celiac disease so these individuals know that they still have a variety of food options available to them that can either use gluten-free specific products or products that are inherently gluten-free," RDN Hotz told Patch. "By knowing that there are a variety of inherently gluten-free meals as well as great, tasty resources as replacements for gluten-based favorites, it can decrease some stress around food while also allowing a great opportunity to attain more well-rounded nutrition."(Huntington Patch)
  3. Weekend weather report. The weather forecast is not looking too good for Mother's Day Weekend. Friday and Saturday we will have continuous rain for a period of 24 hours with temperatures only in the low 50s. Sunday morning will be cold and windy, but we're hoping for some clearing and sunshine later in the day for you to enjoy Mother's Day. Overall, it will be a cold, wet, and windy weekend with the only chance of sunny skies on Sunday. (Weather.com)
