  1. Police are looking for the public's help to find the man who threw a rock through the window of the Commack Smoke Shop. The incident happened on March 1 at roughly 1:20 a.m. The unidentified man stole cash, ran from the store and got into a white SUV. Anyone with any information is asked to call Suffolk County Crimestoppers at 1-800-221-TIPS. (Patch)
  2. Jon Rosier, 20, of Huntington Station was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary after he broke into a home on Lieper Street Monday afternoon. He entered through a back door and was confronted by residents of the home. He was arrested an hour later. (Patch)
  3. Half Hollow Hills graduate and Huntington resident Jill Faber was named "A Distinguished Teacher of Long Island" by the Harvard Club of Long Island. "This award honors middle and high school teachers who have profoundly influenced their students' lives," said Dr. Judith Esterquest, chair of the Distinguished Teacher Selection Committee. "Dedicated teachers like Ms. Faber inspire Long Island students to excel, to become passionate about learning, and to recognize the value of hard work.   • Huntington Union Free School District: In their first ever Long Island Dance Team Association Regionals, the Huntington High Steppers Dance team captured third place. “I could not have asked for a better team to make my first-year coaching more memorable,” said Samantha Allen, the team’s coach and advisor.   • Huntington Union Free School District: The Blue Devils boys' swimmers had a terrific weekend, finishing second in the state. The combined team of Walt Whitman, Harborfields, and Huntington incorporates swimming and diving, and the event was held at Ithaca college. (Facebook)
