Here are the top four stories today in Huntington:

  1. State report finds surge in drug overdose deaths during the pandemic. “Too many New Yorkers have died from the misuse of drugs, but the jump in these numbers is alarming. It is a tragedy that devastates families and impacts our communities in countless ways,” State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli said. “The data shows our battle against drug overdose deaths is far from over. State leaders must ensure an ongoing commitment of public resources and strategies, including new funding from legal settlements, and innovative, evidence-based solutions for the fight against this deadly epidemic to be effective.” Finds Sure in Drug Overdose Deaths (http://www.huntingtonNow.com)
  2. Town of Oyster Bay creates no soliciting door stickers. The stickers were created to deter solicitation and come with an official town seal. “Now more than ever, our Town residents wish to remain unbothered at home by the potential nuisance of door-to-door peddlers," Town Clerk Richard LaMarca said in an announcement. 3. The Huntington Holiday Parade will return on Nov. 26. This year the parade will shift from Wall St. to Town Hall and Heckscher Park. The parade will include Santa Claus, Sal “The Voice” Valentinetti and a Christmas tree lighting in Heckscher Park. It will kick off at 4:30 p.m. so make sure you arrive early to ensure you can get parking. (Huntington Now)
  4. Twin Fork Beer Co. and Island Harvest join for 2nd annual food drive. Now through Nov. 20, you can drop by Twin Fork Beer Co. with a non-perishable item and get a free beer for your donation. They also accept personal care items and toiletries. (Long Island Press)
