Huntington Hospital Hits 100 Years In American Hospital Association

The hospital was recognized for being a member of the American Hospital Association (AHA) for 100 years.

HUNTINGTON, NY — Huntington Hospital was recognized for its 100th year of membership in the American Hospital Association (AHA), the hospital announced.

"The AHA has a long history of representing and advocating for members of the healthcare community," said Nick Fitterman, MD, executive director of Huntington Hospital. "They ensure their members' perspectives and needs are heard and addressed in national health policy development, legislative and regulatory debates and judicial matters. At Huntington Hospital, we are very proud to have been a part of the AHA for so long. It’s truly an honor to be recognized.”

AHA Regional Executive Michael Draine presented the award to Fitterman in a ceremony at the hospital on Friday.

"The American Hospital Association is proud to recognize Huntington Hospital for 100 years of membership in the AHA and for its continued commitment to serving patients and communities on Long Island," said AHA Regional Executive Michael Draine. "First founded in 1916, Huntington Hospital has been a cornerstone of care in Suffolk County, delivering a full range of comprehensive and specialty services to patients. We thank Huntington Hospital’s leaders, caregivers and other staff for their dedication to their mission of improving health and providing the highest quality care."

Huntington Hospital, known for its Magnet nursing accreditation, has been a member of Northwell Health since 1994. The hospital said it shares Northwell’s vision of being a preeminent health care delivery system in the tradition of excellence and the embodiment of community values and human dignity. US News and World Report ranked Huntington as the 10th-best hospital in New York state and 12th in the region in 2022.
