Huntington Hospital Recognized for Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology

These procedures are typically less painful and require less recovery time than traditional methods, the hospital says.

The Joanne Marzano Center for Gynecologic Surgery at Huntington Hospital recently met several strict guidelines to be recognized as a Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology (COEMIG).

COEMIG, a designation from the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists and the Surgical Review Corporation, only recognizes hospital administration and medical staff that meets stringent guidelines that support minimally-invasive gynecologic surgery over traditional methods.

And Huntington Hospital does just that: more than 90 percent of the hospital’s gynecologic procedures are minimally invasive.

Minimally invasive procedures typically lead to less pain, quicker recovery, less blood loss and are more cosmetically appealing than other gynecologic procedures, the hospital says.
