Huntington Police Blotter: Coffee Shop Employee Scammed
The employee was told the store needed new equipment and sent the scammer funds from the shop and his own personal money, police say.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- May 23: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on Main Street in Huntington at 11:50 p.m. Someone called an employee of Starbucks and told him he needed to send money because the store needed new equipment, police said. The employee sent the scammer $1,800 in cash from the Starbucks register and $1,500 of his personal money, police said.
- May 20: Grand larceny (third-degree) and grand larceny (fourth-degree: motor vehicle) were reported on Lodge Avenue at 10 p.m. A 2020 GMC Terrain was stolen, police said. The vehicle had been parked in the driveway, and the owner realized it was missing when they woke up, police said.
