Huntington Police Blotter: Driver Chases Pedestrian, Hits Them, Assaults Them With Weapon
ALSO: Man steals from The Home Depot despite being previously banned from the store, police say.
HUNTINGTON, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? These are recent incidents reported in the Huntington area from June 23 through June 29.
The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- June 23: Joseph Ortiz, 79, of Elwood, stole Spruce Weed and Grass Killer from The Home Depot, at 502 Jericho Turnpike, Commack, on June 7, police said. Ortiz had previously been banned from the store's premises and returned multiple times anyway, police said. He was arrested and charged with third-degree burglary: illegal entry with intent to commit crime, one count of petty larceny three counts of third-degree criminal trespass: property fenced or enclosed, police said.
Incidents
- June 28: Assault (second-degree) and operator leave scene of personal injury accident were reported on 18th Street in Huntington Station at 10:04 p.m. A driver chased a pedestrian from New York Avenue to West 18th Street in Huntington Station, police said. The driver struck the pedestrian with the vehicle and then hit them with a weapon multiple times, causing injury, police said. The pedestrian was taken to a hospital, police said.
- June 23: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on Ninth Street in Huntington Station at 9:08 p.m. A Jeep was stolen from in front of a home around 7 a.m. June 23, police said.
