Huntington Police Blotter: Man Flees Police After Collision

HUNTINGTON, NY — Check out some of the recent arrests made in the Huntington area, from Sept. 1 to Sept. 7.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Maurice Alexander, 26, of Amityville, was driving a 2014 Honda Accord northbound on New York Avenue with a suspended license when he hit a 2004 Nissan Maxima and caused minor injuries to someone, then sped off despite an officer trying to stop him, police said. He was arrested and charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, first-degree leaving an accident: failure to show license or ID, third-degree flee officer in motor vehicle, reckless driving and second-degree reckless endangerment on Sept. 7.
  • Jose Ortez, 30, of Brentwood, got into a fight with someone he knew while at a bar and hit them over the head with a bottle, and was arrested and charged with assault w/ intent to cause physical injury w/ weapon on Sept. 7, police said.
  • Chris Mims, 31, of Huntington Station, stole Enfamil, baby food, and twice took baby formula that was listed at one price and then switched labels with a cheaper baby formula, and was arrested and charged with four counts of petty larceny on Sept. 6, police said.
  • Yoni Avila, 25, of Huntington Station, was driving a 1998 Dodge Ram southbound on New York Avenue when he collided into a 2017 Toyota pick-up truck, then failed to show his license and insurance information and drove away, and was arrested and charged with operator leave scene of property damage accident on Sept. 6, police said.
  • Nakia Green, 32, of Huntington Station, stole a known person's check from their house then deposited the check into her own account, and was arrested and charged with second-degree forgery: deed/will/contract on Sept. 6, police said.
  • John Maier, 53, of Huntington, stole two doctors' prescription pads, and was arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree possession of forged instrument on Sept. 5, police said.
  • Tyrone Carter Jr., 45, of Amityville, was carrying Methadone and tried to run from officers and, when he was on the ground, refused to put his hands behind his back, and was arrested and charged with resisting arrest, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and first-degree criminal possession of controlled substance: 5,760 mil. methadone on Sept. 5, police said.
  • Anthony Morgan, 34, of West Babylon, was driving with a license that had been suspended or revoked when police found marijuana and THC oil during a traffic stop, and was arrested and charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana on Sept. 4, police said.
  • Katrina Weidler, 29, of Huntington, stole several items from CVS while having a black utility holster, heavy duty magnet and claw on her, and was arrested and charged with petty larceny and possession of burglar tools on Sept. 3, police said.
