Huntington Police Blotter: Man Leads Police On Car Chase

The man was accused of having had a loaded gun, police say.

HUNTINGTON, NY — These are recent arrests made in the Huntington area from May 15 through May 21.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • John Gentry, 33, of Huntington Station, was found in possession of crack cocaine, police said. He was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance: narcotic drug w/ intent to sell, fourth-degree criminal possession of narcotics and second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia on May 20.
  • Tashawn Cunningham, 24, of Greenlawn, had a loaded gun, police said. Cunningham, driving a 2016 BMW, drove away from an officer at a high speed on Little Plains Road at 12:25 p.m. May 19, police said. Cunningham drove north, passing several stop signs and failing to signal his turns while speeding, police said. He was arrested and charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon: loaded firearm, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon: previous conviction, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon: ammo clip, criminal possession of a firearm, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, third-degree flee officer in a motor vehicle, and reckless driving on May 19.
