Huntington Police Blotter: Money Stolen In Parking Lot Trick
Someone tricked another person into looking at the ground before stealing their money, police say.
HUNTINGTON, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? These are recent incidents reported in the Huntington area from April 16 through April 22.
The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.
- April 18: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported at Walt Whitman Shops in South Huntington at 12:35 p.m. Someone was approached by someone they did not know in a parking lot, police said. The person who approached the other person told them they dropped something on the ground, and when the person looked down, the thief stole an envelope containing cash out of their purse, police said.
- April 17: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Fourth Avenue in Huntington Station at 9:40 p.m. Someone tried to scam someone over the phone, police said.
