Huntington Police Blotter: Stolen Gun, Cocaine, Found In House
ALSO: Another man burglarized a Huntington laundromat twice in July, police say.
HUNTINGTON, NY — These are recent arrests made in the Huntington area from July 11 through July 18.
The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.
- Alexis Vasquez, 22, of Huntington, was found to have cocaine packaged in a manner consistent with narcotics sales when police executed a search warrant at a home on Tulsa Street in Huntington around 6 a.m. July 17, police said. The cocaine weighed more than half an ounce, and Vasquez had plastic baggies and digital scales, police said. He also had a 9 mm handgun the East Liverpool Police Department reported stolen "many years ago," police said. He was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal possession of controlled substance: narcotic drug w/ intent to sell, criminal possession of controlled substance: narcotic, two counts of third-degree criminal possession of weapon, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and two counts of second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia on July 17.
- Candemir Atlas, 52, of Huntington Station, was at the address of Huntington Hospital when he placed his hands around someone's hips with the intent to harass, annoy and alarm them, police said. He was arrested and charged with second-degree harassment: physical contact on July 13.
- Germaine Scarlett, 33, of Roosevelt, used a stolen credit card number to buy two leaf blowers from Prestige Equipment Center, at 268 Broadway in Huntington Station, on the afternoon of April 30, causing the store financial loss, police said. He was arrested and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny: value of property over $1,000 on July 13.
- James Reeves, 38, of Huntington Station, burglarized Laundry Mall, at 838 New York Ave., Huntington, twice in July, police said. At 11:43 p.m. July 1, Reeves used a cement block to break the front glass door before stealing money from the cash register, police said. At 12:34 a.m. July 12, Reeves returned to the laundromat and used a brick to break the building's door and then tried to steal money from the register, police said. He was arrested and charged with two counts of third-degree burglary: illegal entry w/ intent on July 12.
