Huntington Police Blotter: Volkswagen Stolen From Driveway
ALSO: A scammer in Mexico told a woman he kidnapped her daughter, and the woman sent him money, police say.
HUNTINGTON, NY — These are recent incidents reported in the Huntington area from Dec. 26 through Jan. 1.
The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.
- Jan. 1: Grand larceny (second-degree) was reported on Walt Whitman Road in South Huntington at 7 p.m. A person was told by a scammer in Mexico that he kidnapped her daughter, so the person sent him cash, police said.
- Dec. 29: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on East 23th Street in Huntington Station from Dec. 5 at noon. A person stole a 1999 Volkswagen Passat that was parked in a driveway, police said. Police did not know if the car was locked or unlocked.
- Dec. 27: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on Walt Whitman Road in South Huntington from Dec. 26 at 6:10 p.m. A person asked a Saks Fifth Avenue employee to see a Saint Laurent handbag so they could take a photo of it before buying, and when the person had the handbag in their hand, they ran out of the store, police said.
- Dec. 27: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on Walt Whitman Road in South Huntington at 6:36 p.m. Someone stole assorted perfumes from Ulta Beauty, police said.
- Dec. 26: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on Oakwood Road in Huntington Station at 10 a.m. A man parked his 2005 Jeep in the parking lot of 253 Oakwood Road and left it unlocked, police said. When he returned, he noticed two credit cards and some cash were stolen, police said.
