Huntington Police Blotter: Woman Used Stolen Debit Card, Damaged Store

HUNTINGTON, NY — These are recent arrests made in the Huntington area from May 1 through May 14.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

• Amy Kowalewski, 38, of Huntington Station, used a debit card belonging to someone else at Walgreens on New York Avenue in Huntington Station on May 6, police said. She also had a credit card that belonged to someone else, police said. On May 8, Kowalewski pushed a metal shopping cart into the glass electric door of Community Market on Depot Road in Huntington Station, breaking the door, police said. She tried to steal Four Loko from Community Market, police said. At the police precinct, she was found to have a check that belonged to someone else and had previously been reported stolen from a vehicle, police said. She was arrested and charged with two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property: possession of credit card, one count of third-degree identity theft: obtain goods, one count of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, one count of criminal mischief: reckless property damage of more than $250, and one count of petty larceny on May 12.
• Greg Whelan, 71, of Huntington, masturbated outside of his house in view of his neighbors at 9:50 a.m. on May 10, police said. He was arrested and charged with lewdness: expose body in public on May 10.
• Cesar Cortes, 37, of Central Islip, stole three designer hats from Saks Fifth Avenue at Walt Whitman Mall in South Huntington at 2:10 p.m. May 1, police said. He was arrested and charged with fourth-degree: grand larceny: value of property more than $1,000 on May 1.
