Huntington Residents Honored for Academic Excellence
The students were recently honored by Farmingdale State College.

Two Huntington residents were honored for being the top students in their field of study at Farmingdale State College.
Jessica Van Bladel, of Huntington Station, and Nicolas Mavromoustakos, of Huntington, were awarded the Student Award for Academic Excellence.
The SAAE is given to the top two students in each degree, based on their GPA, exceptional performance in research, internships, student projects and involvement in department clubs and honor societies.

Van Bladel graduated from Huntington High School and Mavromoustakos graduated from Harborfields High School.
Van Bladel was the recipient of the Madeline M. Sorrenti, Locust Valley Garden Club, and Matinecock Garden Club scholarships. She was also president of Farmingdale’s Horticulture Club and won the Student Design Award from the Long Island Nursery & Landscape Association.

Mavromoustakos, who minored in Legal Studies and English, is a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society and made the President’s List every semester at Farmingdale.
